Damn. What a well written and emotional essay. My grandpa has had cancer for the past couple of months and this week we've seen him fading away before our eyes at the hospital. We all feel that it's only a matter of days now. I remember going to see Knives Out with my Grandpa just a few weeks before he had to move into an old age home. I remember sitting next to him during the film and hearing him laugh and enjoy himself. The only other film I remember seeing with him that evoked this reaction is the classic film Airplane. That was one of the last memories I have of seeing him before his eventual move to the old age home and then the hospital where he currently resides. I've been a fan of your YouTube channel for about 3 years now and I remember marvelling at your great short film Longbox Breakup. Yesterday, my mom asked my brother and I if we wanted to text our dad some of our last statements to my grandpa that he could read aloud to him. My brother sent some very nice messages but for some reason I sent nothing. I like to think right now that your article has helped me say some of my final words to my grandpa and tell him how many great memories I have of him, how much I love him and how much I will begin to miss him in the upcoming days. Thank you for publishing this great and touching essay which has helped me communicate my feelings in the most accurate way possible.
Yoni, somehow I think I missed this comment back when you left it in June, but I wanted to say thank you so much for writing it. Truly, it's a privilege to have had any place in your story. Much love for the kind words and your family.
